Day 1: Sandakan to Crystal Quest Jetty - A Turtle Tale Begins
0800hrs: Your Sandakan Adventure Begins
Your adventure begins at the Sandakan airport, where you will be greeted by our friendly team. At 8 AM sharp, get ready for a thrilling journey as we pick you up and kickstart your day with enthusiasm.
0930hrs: Setting Sail to Selingan Turtle Island
The excitement builds as we transfer you to the Crystal Quest Jetty. Here, you’ll board a boat destined for the picturesque Selingan Turtle Island at 9:30 AM. The turquoise waters beckon, promising an unforgettable experience.
Embrace the Island Paradise
Upon reaching Selingan Turtle Island, you’ll check in to your cozy chalet. The day is yours to explore at your own pace. Dive into the crystal-clear waters for a refreshing swim or indulge in snorkeling (weather permitting) to witness the vibrant marine life beneath the surface.
A Night to Remember: Witnessing Turtle Magic
As the sun sets, prepare for a magical evening. After a delectable dinner, our park ranger will guide you to the beach. Here, you will have the rare opportunity to witness majestic sea turtles laying their precious eggs. Experience the heartwarming transfer of these eggs to the hatchery and the emotional release of hatchlings into the sea. Overnight at the Chalet, where the lullaby of the ocean will serenade you to sleep. (L/D)
Day 2: Selingan Island to Sandakan - Orang Utans and Sun Bears
0700hrs: Breakfast and Departure
Rise and shine to a delicious breakfast at 7 AM. Afterward, we bid farewell to Selingan Island and embark on our journey back to Sandakan.
Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre
Arriving at the mainland, we head straight to the world-renowned Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Established in 1964, this sanctuary was created to rehabilitate orphaned Orang Utans and those displaced by logging and forest clearance. You’ll have the incredible opportunity to witness the iconic Orang Utans in their natural habitat and even capture them through your lens. The lush mixed dipterocarp forest provides a perfect home for these remarkable creatures, allowing them to regain their independence and eventually return to the wild.
Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre
Our adventure continues as we journey to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre. Here, you’ll get up close and personal with the world’s smallest bears in their natural forest environment. These adorable Sun Bears are facing habitat loss due to deforestation. The mission of the center is to promote sun bear conservation through welfare, conservation, rehabilitation, education, and research. From the walkway, you can observe these playful bears as they lumber and frolic in open-air forest enclosures.
Lunch and Relaxation
After an eventful morning, it’s time to refuel with a delightful lunch at the Borneo Sepilok Rainforest Resort. Following lunch, the rest of the day is yours to unwind and explore at your leisure.
Day 3: Sandakan - A Farewell to Paradise
Breakfast and Departure
On your final day, savor a delicious breakfast before preparing for your departure. After breakfast, we will arrange a hassle-free transfer to Sandakan Airport. (B)
